Must be in the new syllabus "No adults in scouting may have fun" which equates to "Everyone is a winner attitude"

Sorry about the comparsion but come on people in high places, In this economy with everyone losing their jobs, homes, families we need to be able to still joke around. Hazing to me is where someone either, or gets hurt or scared to death about getting hurt or even personal property getting tore up. Next thing that will have to stop is interpatrol compititions because someone has to lose and remember every child is a winner. No knot tying contest, No firebuilding contest. WOW lets make Scouts just like School where you sit and listen to someone lecture. I know I will piss people off with this but stop and look at where we are going with this stuff and put some fun back into scouting.

Not everyone has to lose. We wer told the lesson, moral, value, priciple, story, reason, purpose behind the "Win All You Can" game was to teech that we should all work towards the common good (ie: everyone gets does the same, gets the same points, everyone wins).

Putting my coaches hat on... when you preach the everyone's a winner philosophy you are setting mediocrity as your goal. Competition is a driving force for most boys (and men) and as much can be learned from losing as from winning. Where does this all end? Do we not have Patrol competitions because someone might feel bad if they lose? Should we eliminate camporees because not every troop can win a klondike? Competition brings out the best of us. Next to B.P., Vince Lombardi is one of my favorite motivational influences. Some of his best quotes are "show me a team that likes to lose and I will show you a bunch of losers" and "if winning doesn't matter then why do they keep score".
No one can pass through life, any more than he can pass through a bit of country, without leaving tracks behind, and those tracks may often be helpful to those coming after him in finding their way. - Lord Baden-Powell

Ya got to be kidding me! Hazing!

If there is a winner, there has to be a loser!

I woulda been kicked out of this course! A lot of the fun was trying to out do each other & that included on dinging other patrols!

Political correctness isn't.

Half the fun of being at WB is the good-natured sniping at the other patrols. What a sad, dismal, pathetic class you must have if you can't zing the Beavers or Bobwhites. :P :P
