My application is in the process of being converted from Adult Leader to Staff.

Once the conversion is done, I will be (re)submitting it for a Climbing/Rappelling staff position.

Please send me good source(s) for training and equipement. All my experience is "Dope-on-a-Rope" military. Not BSA standard for sure.

Make sure you do a good job with them centers, Mr. Bear. I just got word I'll be part of my Council's contingent, and I'll be bringing my boys on over there, looking for a good time. :D

Not coming to Quest. I will be at my Wood Badge course.

Only one crew from PWC signed up for the Quest. And then they are only going for the All-day Saturday.

We (the TLC/VOA) hope this will change for the 2010 Summit at Bucktail.

Do Action Alley, Climbing and Rappelling require special training? My son (18 yrs old) is interested in youth staff and is trying to decide what areas to apply for. Hopes to be applying within a week.

Wow. Is staffing a normal issue or are "we" experiencing a problem of sorts?

Personally, I would have thought that the Jambo Committee would have all slots filled
by then end of 2007 and actually be recruiting for the next Jamboree as "We" are to "Be Prepared."

I have seen nothing done with my Staff Application since it was approved by my Council
and sent back to National. No activity on a credit check, no FBI, DoD background check,
no State and Local records check, no phone calls to the neighbors, nothing.

So who knows where in the process my app sits.

The Staffing is actually ahead of 2005. People want to go to the Jamboree and did not make it with the contingent. I was still getting staff assigned the day I left for the Jamboree. They actually sent a guy to me day two of the Jamboree and I sent him to someone that needed more help then I dad. AS far as hearing anything it takes around 4-5 weeks from the time your council approves you. In your case I gave my boss your name and he is watching for it along with several more. The APplications are actually handled by a subcontractor at first.

Update........I did get my Letter Of Acceptance this Monday morning.

However, I am greatly concerned that there was no activity reported in seeking a background check. Like posted earlier, no local or state police check, no iquiry to the DoD where my Secret Clearance is at, no check on credit report at all three main agencies and the list of normal background sources goes on that were not checked.

Just who is doing the checks and how do they know I am really who i say I am?

But seriously folks, I paid $10.00 up front so this background check could be ran, and no one touched my records. This is not a good thing.

I only paid my 100.00 deposit. They only charged 10.00 to the participants. Not sure why.It was my understanding it was a processing fee not for a background check.
