Jamboree Patches and other stuff...........

Postby biglou » Tue Jun 23, 2009 11:09 pm

I got my Jamboree Leader's patch today! I was informed that I will be Bucktail's Jambo SM! Well, anyhow I was wondering what other council's were doing with their JSPs. I know we are coming up with a "Punxsy Phil" set in addition to a Bucktail Council throwback patch for the 100th anniversary. What are the other patches that councils are working on?

There is a BSA Form that must be filled out and returned to National. All JSP's must be approved and councils must use one of the supplied templates. They have strict rules that will be enforced this Jamboree. I cannot remember where I saw acopy of the form. It is like guidelines and approval process for Jamboree JSP.

Yeah I know there are special shapes for JSPs. We just got approval from the "Inner Circle" for the Punxsy Phil set. Now we just need to get them finished along with the other patch.

OK, I know I might ruffle some feathers here. Is it me or does the 2010 NSJ patch look cheap? I like the design but after looking at it very closely, I noticed that the American Flag background is kind of like screen printed like the Quality Unit patches. I am afraid that the patch will wear out long before it should. My nephew has a Quality Unit patch from 2008 and it is pretty much toast from the screen printing side. I am afraid that the Jambo Patch will do the same thing. I am paying a pretty penny to go and would like the patch to last at least longer than a year. Is it me or is the quality of the patches way down from what it used to be? :?:

Just my two cents... I see no reason whatsoever why, if you're not satisfied with the patch (i.e., not well-made, or fully-embroidered), which BTW, it sounds like I would be too... You can contact a BSA-authorized product licensee that makes patches and get your own, better made replacement patch(es). Anything from one-offs to hundreds. You could even get quotes from multiples vendors. [Google is your friend.] Plus, you probably have a couple of patch gurus in your council that know who's who in patch business.

One could also call National and complain about the patches. (This is certainly not to imply there are any Scout(er)s in this world that are picky or OCD about such things as quality patches. )

I agree, I wasn't too happy with the quality of the Jamboree patch either.
