I found this letter from DIRTY JOBS Mike Rowe on wikipedia. I read it and thought it was cool. Just wanted to share this everyone.

Do a little digging: You need to request it about 2 months in advance of the ECOH, but he will write a letter for anyone acheiving Eagle. I plan to request one for Chip as he likes Dirty Jobs.

I sent him one, hope 6 1/2 weeks in advance is long enough.

I should tell my troop. Mike Rowe is a sweet guy who tells it like it is.

We requested for Jr. Cowboy about 5 weeks ago. Still nothing. Also nothing out of the White house yet, but the Military, Postal service, and several others have responded.

I requested one for my son 3 months before his ECOH and did not get a letter, he did receive almost 100 letters over all to include one from NASA which took over a year.

In early 2003, the letter my son liked the best from those requested off the list we had been given was a postcard from the CIA stating they were too busy to send a letter.....

The white house seems to prefer faxed requests rather than snail mailed requests.

I am trying to remember now, but I believe the Whitehouse now requires online requests. Anyway, my son received his from the Whitehouse this week, so it was actually a pretty quick turn around. He is actually more concerned about the two from the Bush Presidents. [Politics, don't go there.]
