A new idea and it worked!

Postby Mrw » Wed Mar 23, 2011 12:14 pm

So in an effort to get a better handle on how to get Boards of Review scheduled in a way that works for everyone, we decided to set one week a month as a no meeting week. This is set aside for PLC meetings and general advancement.

Last night we had the first such non-meeting.

We had the PLC meeting, 5 Boards, two SMCs, our new crossovers came for the first time and met with their guides and the SM, four of those new ones earned Scout, 11 boys met with the First Aid counselor to get tested on what they have been learning, several boys came to get things signed off and ensure their requirements were updated in Troopmaster or to turn in blue cards.

All told we had 34 of 49 boys plus 14 adults turn up at some point and everyone seemed to be happy with the opportunity to get things taken care of.

Very interesting.

Isn't the SM at the PLC meeting?

The SM was mostly at the PLC, but was in and out a little. And there were three ASM's available as well. The PLC has finally also reached the point where their meeting was shorter than the regular meeting time and that freed the SM up to meet with other boys.

We do not generally expect there to be this much going on during these days, but it was nice to see it be successful where there was a lot to get to. Had we had a meeting this week, odds are good we would have just had the new kids not come last week, but we have too many folks out of town for school spring break to bother and cancelled it.

Don't you know that we SMs are multi-talented, multi-tasked and multi-nuts? I don't go to the PLCs. The SPL and I chat before hand and its his meeting.
