Like anything....Wood Badge is what you make of it. Are there some that have taken WB and think they know it all? Sure. But you will have those kind of folks in every organization.

I had a great WB experience and it has helped me more outside of Scouting. Glad I made my own decision and went instead of listening to those in my unit. All were dead set against WB. When I asked why, they really couldn't give me a good answer. I think it stemmed from someone having a bad experience and thus, no one should go to WB.

I have gone back and served on four courses. I'll serve on my fifth next year.

It is your decision.

Sorry for jumping in late on this one (been tied up with work :-( ). It sure is your decision.....

But, I think any WB participants that are behaving the way people are describing didn't GET IT!!!

I say this as someone who has attended the 21st Century course, been on staff 3 times, including Course Director in 2011. I also say this as I watch many of the recent participants who are now taking the responsibility for a variety of things in the Council and Districts.

It is an EXCELLENT leadership course (comparable to corporate ones of $2000 to $3000 easily) and is given in the structure of the Boy Scouting programs.

As others have said, it is what you make of it, but I recommend that you both take it AND make it something good!!!

If you have questions about it, you can e-mail me.
