I know a scout in another troop who is getting the details set for his eagle project. the only problem though is that he doesn't deserve it. the one requirement he hasn't passed is the almost always overlooked scout spirit requirement. I don't know if he does this around scout leaders, but , to put it bluntly, he's a jerk.

I don't know why, but he just is. he also uses several 4-letter words. my troop met him at a merit badge college, and within two minutes of meeting him agreed with me

should I do anything about it, and, if so, what? I really would not like him to disgrace the boy scouts, which he would do if he earned his eagle.

i really dont know what i would do if i were you. maybe develop a clever plan to catch him in the act. that is all i can suggest. i hope you figure this out, because it sounds like it would be a real disgrace if he got it.

Ask the Council/District to participate in the Eagle Board of Review.....

Have you talked to his SM? I would start there. But other than that there is very little you can do. The only hope is that someone that will sit on his BOR will have heard him talk.

My counsel would be to worry about your own laundry and not your neighbor's.

What matters is your behaviour and your reflection of the scouting ideals. As this other scout has shown you, character counts. Your behavior is seen and evaluated by those around you all the time. People will have the choice to judge the program by the scouts they see in their everyday life. If the majority act according to the values of scouting then people will easily recognize that this other boy's behavior is not a reflection of the program.

You cannot control others actions, unless they are illegal or physically harmful to others you should learn to ignore them. There will be many people in this world whose actions you will not agree with. It is doubtful you wil have the time as an adults to try and keep each of them from being rewarded or recognized in their own workplace or by their own peers.

Keep your own laundry clean, let others worry about theirs.
