Is there something we can do to reduce the bandwith?

The only thing I can suggest is that we form a collaboration to review all image files and reduce the (larger one's, especially) resolution down to a level appropriate for web viewing or monitor viewing.

Okay, I've done a cursory review and checked out the files over on the wiki. Most of the image files look okay to me; but still, there's room for improvement. For example, I was able to compress Historic.gif from 44Kb down to 24kb and converted it to .png while I was at it.

The worksheets pose the same problem and are, by far, the largest files on the wiki. I will look into finding a better compression engine for these .pdf files, which is something I'm already working on (well, similar) in another project.

This is not necessarily driven by an effort to reduce costs -- bandwidth, whatever type, costs money, and that's a fact of life. But, primarily, it just plain makes good sense to reduce the size of files... for images, this will result in faster page loads for our customers; for worksheets, this will result in faster d/l times, which will be particularly appreciated by our friends who a on dial-up, for example.

I will move this over to the wiki and continue working on it and request additional help there.
